what would you like on your tombstone?

it is very red, and i like it.

so, i played in this hardcore band in college… we played lots of shows and recorded some songs that were supposed to be released as a 7″, but the label ended up not having enough money in the middle of the record pressing process. so, the test presses were done right after i moved back to ohio, and i never saw them… until now! i just got this in the mail two days ago, and i’m glad to finally have it. part of me thought these didn’t really exist, but now i have the proof.

i was just searching online for some album artwork and came across a random blog that had all sorts of albums available for download. a lot of them are records that i got when i was a kid, and it made me wonder what it would have been like to have something like this around back then. i feel like it would have been way less intersting than combing through paper catalogs, sending cash through the mail, and checking the mailbox every day for a week until the records arrived. do kids still take records seriously? hmmm…

this is happening outside my window right now. there is also a band playing old guy music loudly. you know the kind i mean… it makes middle-aged people shake their hips and move their arms from side to side. i tried to fight it for a while by closing the windows and turning up the stereo, but i’ve now decided to just embrace it. they are giving me some great ideas for song titles; “all my lovin’ for an angel,” “the bartender (says it’s last call)”… these could all be classics.

the promos have arrived! how exciting… they even have the little obi strip along the spine. back when CD singles were still cool, i used to get those with smashing pumpkins import singles and thought they were so great. now we have one, and i still think they are great!
the japan release on fastcut records is available now with a bunch of bonus tracks, including “who knows” from the 7″ and one unreleased track.
